Editorial Policy & Information Quality

Our Basic Editorial Policy

Zainichi Money Navi aims to provide accurate, neutral information about money, remittances, banking, credit cards, and taxes that foreign residents in Japan can actually use, available in four languages: Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), Vietnamese, and English.

Editorial Structure

This site is operated by MRI Co., Ltd., and content is written and edited by the Zainichi Money Navi editorial team (for details on the operating company, see About Us).

For specialized areas such as taxes, remittances, banking, and investment, we do not list a named individual certified reviewer (such as a tax accountant or financial planner). Instead, the editorial team works to ensure accuracy by cross-checking primary sources — official institutions and the official information of each service — and by reviewing content on an ongoing basis. For important decisions involving procedures or amounts, please always confirm directly with the relevant official institution (tax office, financial institution, etc.) or a qualified professional such as a tax accountant or administrative scrivener.

Writing and Verification Process

  1. Consult primary sources: official institutions such as the National Tax Agency, local governments, and financial institutions, as well as the official websites of each service
  2. Cross-check important content such as systems and fees against multiple sources
  3. Verify facts, figures, and years before publication
  4. Regularly review content after publication in light of regulatory or fee changes, and clearly state the update date whenever content is revised

Our Policy on Sources (Primary Information)

For tax-related articles, we refer to information published by the National Tax Agency and local governments; for remittance, banking, and credit card articles, we refer to the official websites and announcements of each service; and for legal content, we refer to sources such as the e-Gov Law Search.

Fees, tax rates, filing deadlines, screening conditions, and similar details are subject to change. Figures in our articles reflect official information confirmed at the time of writing or updating; please always check the latest conditions with the relevant official website or institution. Where possible, we link to primary sources and official websites within the body of each article.

Our Criteria for Rankings and Recommendations

Our comparison and ranking articles do not determine rankings based on whether a product is an advertiser. We compare services objectively, with the real-world use of foreign residents in Japan in mind, using reproducible criteria such as the following.

  • Conditions for application or account opening (whether a residence card is accepted, minimum period of stay, etc.)
  • Ease of use for those who have just arrived in Japan or are not yet comfortable with Japanese
  • Availability of multilingual support
  • Costs such as fees and annual charges
  • Convenience of apps, ATMs, and branch/store networks
  • Compatibility with international remittances and international card networks

Our Update Policy

When we become aware of regulatory changes, fee revisions, or similar updates, we review the relevant article and, for pages where the content has actually been revised, update the "last updated" date. The update date is left unchanged for pages where no content has changed.

Advertising, Affiliate Links, and Editorial Independence

This site uses advertising services such as Google AdSense and various affiliate programs, and pages containing ads or PR content are clearly labeled as such. While advertising and affiliate links may generate revenue, they do not influence our content, comparisons, or rankings (for details, see also About Us).
